Rafael Gallego Nadal

CEAV President

2017 will be the year in which the 4th Summit of Travel Agencies Associations will be celebrated. This event was born in 2013 with the aim of becoming a global forum to share experiences and problems faced by us as Travel Agencies and our representative Associations.

Three editions have already been successfully held, thanks to the large number of the participating Associations and their high level of representativeness, as well as to the working sessions’ content and value. For these reasons, we can proudly state that the Summit has become an essential event for the leaders of our sector, at both national and international level.

In this context, CEAV takes up the challenge of celebrating the 4th Summit of Travel Agencies Associations, which will take place in Valencia (Spain) from 1st to 3rd of November 2017. We have the full support of the Regional and Local Tourist Authorities: Agencia Valenciana de Turismo, Diputación Provincial de Valencia and Turismo Valencia, which are doing their utmost to organize the meeting. We are completely sure that they will do so also next November welcoming and lavishing on the participants during the celebration of the event.

The coming months are expected to be months of hard work for the whole CEAV team, together with the Valencian Tourist Authorities, in order to ensure the success of the Summit at both content and operational level; to provide participants with value but, at the same time, allow them to discover one of the Spain fastest-growing tourist destinations as a consequence of its large number of tourist attractions and offer, its varied tourist proposal, its wonderful weather and the warmth of its people.

See you in Valencia in November.

Francesc Colomer

Regional Secretary of the Valencia Tourism Agency

As the head of Tourism for the Valencian Community it’s a pleasure to welcome you all to this World Summit of Presidents of Travel Agencies Associations, organised by the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies which, now in its 4th edition, is being held in Valencia.

Due to the increasingly competitive and diverse national and international tourism market, tourist destinations must ensure a rapid response to the changing requirements of the demand. Doing nothing in the midst of constant change can only lead to failure. In this respect, the continuing activity of Travel Agencies will help us to strengthen the Valencian Community’s current competitive position as a first-rate tourist destination and diverse and plural region, rich in inland areas and Mediterranean landscapes, in which charming urban and rural areas blend in perfect harmony with our magnificent coast. That is why it is such a pleasure to welcome you to our region.

The Valencian Community has a total of 1,278 travel agencies, of which 56%, more specifically 723, are located in the province of Valencia, and 353 in the city of Valencia, which demonstrates the importance of this type of tourism companies, which have been able to continually progress in order to adapt to the new technologies and to the new demands of tourists, while the number of establishments has continued to grow in the past year.

On behalf of the Valencia Tourism Agency, I would like to assure the Travel Agencies sector that the Valencia Regional Government is fully committed and engaged to working together in order to support your activity, with full collaboration on all levels. You, the Travel Agencies, can help us to raise our image and obtain a well-deserved competitive position, both in national and international markets.

I am convinced that we have a long road to travel together, with ambitious challenges and with all of the enthusiasm of working for a sector that brings so many benefits to the Valencian Community and to the country as a whole, as is the tourism sector. That is why I hope that this 4th Summit will lead us to important conclusions that will allow us to continue to move in the right direction.

I would like to finish by once again expressing my gratitude for choosing Valencia as the location for this event and for allowing us to provide you with a first-hand experience of tourism in the Valencian Community and, more specifically, in this wonderful city.

Pilar Moncho

Tourism Councillor for the Provincial Council of Valencia

Without a doubt, Valencia is an excellent host. It’s with good reason that the city has been chosen to host a wide range of events and projects that enrich our tourism market and symbolise the future of the sector. In this respect, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV) for placing its trust in our region to host the 4th Summit of Travel Agents’ Associations, a professional event that will bring together the world’s main tourism prescribers next November.

As Tourism Councillor for the Provincial Council of Valencia, I would like to stress that this is a fantastic opportunity to tell the world that, as Valencians, we are not only excellent hosts, but we are also able to lead the way in terms of new forms of managing the tourism sector, combining the public and private spheres while streamlining and optimising resources.

Fully aware of the new reality of tourism, travel agents, which are important actors within the sector, have been committed to opening new marketing platforms in order to meet new social demands. At the Provincial Council of Valencia Tourist Board, or Patronat de Turisme, we welcome the evolution of traditional marketing formulas, because we have also promoted a new way of working. We are at a real turning point which will mark the success of a sector that must think and act in accordance with the new tools and synergies provided by the new information and communication technologies.

Because of this, we will continue under the premise that together we stand strong, a motto that not only inspires our daily collaboration and full institutional coordination, on all levels, with the Valencia Tourism Agency and with the Turismo Valencia Foundation, but that also guides our daily work with companies and citizens for the benefit of the tourism competitiveness of our municipalities.

Sandra Gómez

First deputy mayor at the Valencia City Council.
President of the Turismo Valencia Foundation.

It is a real privilege for Valencia to host the 4th Summit of Travel Agents’ Associations, and to welcome the presidents of Travel Agents from around the world to our city, along with the main representatives of the sector. Besides discussing the challenges facing the industry, this is also an opportunity to enjoy this friendly and dynamic city and to experience our culture, customs, tradition and cuisine.

The travel agencies sector is an essential link in tourism activity. This sector represents the primary marketer and its role is fundamental both in terms of tourist advice and in terms of tourist satisfaction, whether the tourist is travelling for professional, personal or leisure reasons.

As Valencian organisations, we support CEAV and we are participating in this global event, because in you we find key partners for competitive, profitable and sustainable tourism management. We encourage you to support and participate in this initiative, which encompasses dialogue, debate, the exchange of ideas and business insight.

At the Valencia City Council and the Turismo Valencia Foundation, an organisation which I have the honour of chairing, we are at your disposal. Just like previous editions, we hope that this 4th Summit of Travel Agents’ Associations, to be held in Valencia, will be a resounding success and that you have an unforgettable stay in our city.

We look forward to seeing you,
